So I was actually surprised when I opened the box.
This is also the first month that the new pricing took effect - a week ago, or two; they sent out an email saying that they were raising the prices from $15/month to $21. But to those already subscribed the first month would still be $15.

Overall I liked this month's contents - I wish I got a different shade of nail polish (maybe something more flashy). But I am happy with the shampoo samples and the lipgloss/lip stick combo. I am a loyal Venus razor girl and haven't tried these blades yet. I haven't decided if I am going to stick it out for one more month at $21. But I might.
The total value of the box was aprrox: $79.70.
Who in their right mind would spend $38 on a lipstick?

Looks similar to mine, the only difference was that I got Zoya Loretta, which looks the same to me anyway! I feel the same as you, pretty happy except that I like bolder polishes. The razor is amazing, I got one in a Luxe Box earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteI actually received the same identical box. I agree about what you said regarding the lipstick gloss thing - it is ridiculous. I am also still on the fence about whether or not i should cancel my subscription, 21$/month is pretty steep compared to Topbox which is 12$/month.
ReplyDeleteChanel and Dior lipsticks are up there BUT you get the quality you are expecting. Not an unknown product.

I got the same box with the exception for the polish, I got mine in the shade of Rory. I will be posting later on tonight so you will be able to see what the polish is like.

I received a similar box but a terribly ugly brown lipstick colour that I can't wear and I don't know anyone who would wear it either. But other people seemed to have received a cute pink - I would have enjoyed that. and I agree nobody pays that much for an obscure brand of lipstick! Dior and Channel are in a league of their own and you know exactly what you are getting for that price. Nobody would spend that kind of money of on a random company! I'm not thrilled with this box at all.
ReplyDeleteI must have about 30 small face creams already I'm so tired of getting these in all the subscription boxes. They are always extremely expensive and obscure brands as if it's supposed to justify the price of the box! sure they are decent creams but I'm 27 I don't need anti-aging cream! which brings us right back to the beauty profiles they apparently follow! I really wish they would take into account different people's preferences and skin tones, hair types etc.
I love the razor but as everyone has already stated it's not a luxury item. It's a generic drug store razor. and I would never in a million years spend $20 on a razor - that's actually insane.
I'm going to give November a shot and if it doesn't improve substantially I will be cancelling. I can buy a LOT of stuff that I'll love with $252 for a year.
I cancelled my glossybox after the ignorant reply I got from customer service. I rcvd my first box in Aug. The liquid has spilt and ruined pretty much everything. They sent me the replacement with the eye shadow. Which we're shattered. I sent him a pic. (not asking for a replacement, but to let them know) he thanked me. I got a "FREE" October box and am pretty happy with there effort to make it right. With that said, I find 21$ a hefty jump from 15. So I cannot justify re-joining. I did however today (weird) get off the waiting list for topbox.ca.

I too am off of Topbox's waiting list. (Hope you saw they are also raising their price to $12; from $10).
I received exacttly the same box as you did as well, except for the nail polish. Mine is Emme and the color is so childish I would never wear it. It upsets me they say the lipgloss is a special edition for glossy box and they value it ridiculously. For this kind of value, you should definitely get a high class lip product.
ReplyDeleteThere is also the fact that everytime someone post an insatisfaction on their facebook page, they sooo dont seem to care. They answer things like ''sorry to hear that'', ''thank you'', '' we are disapointed you didnt like it..'' etc without ever giving explanation or at least the impression that they understand the customer's point of view.
For me too, november will be the last test. I will have paid 21$ and I expect something nice. If not, I think we will be quite a bunch to unsuscribe and maybe then they will realise the power of the customers.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you.. I don't think $38 is the right value for a brand like modelco. I think they made the value so high so they can say this box is worth $80.
